Special parliamentary committee must be formed to investigate everyone involved in the case: Lamichhane

Kathmandu: Former Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has demanded an investigation of all the people connected with the fake Bhutanese Refugee scandal case.

Lamichhane shared his view during his participation in the ongoing meeting for the policies and programs for the fiscal year 2080-81.

Lamichhane proposed the formation of a special parliamentary committee to investigate all the people linked in the case. He said, ‘A special constitutional committee must be formed for the investigation. The involvement of all the concerned authorities in the case is creating doubt about a fair investigation. Hence, everyone connected in this case must be investigated.’

Lamichhane said, ‘We have been repeatedly raising our voice in corruption-related matters. We have been suspecting after knowing about the meeting between three political parties. No political party is left to be accused. Not only this but also the name of the investigative officers and heads of various national authorities are coming in this case. This is not an incident that has been done in a dark room or street. These are the activities that happened in the Prime Minister’s Office, Baluwatar, Minister’s quarter, and Singha Durbar during the day time. Look at the list of the people involved in this case. Whom should we trust in the nation?

Lamichhane commented that the government was afraid of investigating all the people related to the case. He added, ‘Home Minister has said of having a fearless heart. Where should we go and check his heart? Involved everyone must be investigated. They must be kept under investigation. There is a history of arresting and taking away persons who were in favor of supporting us. I am the person who was arrested from the newsroom. Police have claimed the authenticity of the audio. Who are they who cannot even be questioned once? It is an international defamation. They must be investigated in every circumstance.’

Former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, and government Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey have already been arrested.

Likewise, the involvement of Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba’s wife Aarju Rana Deuba, wife of Khand Manju Khand, and personal secretary of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Rajesh Bajracharya is being suspected in the case.
