Kichak-Vadh: Jhapa’s Religious and Historical site (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: Kichak-Vadh is a historical place in the Bhadrapur Municipality Ward Number 2 and 3, Jhapa.

According to the Hindu religious scripture Mahabharata, 5-Pandavas disguised themselves in the palace of King Virat. During the same time, Bhimsen killed Kichak in the place, which is popularly known as the Kichak-Vadh.

The place is located 10 kilometers north of Chandragarhi, on the banks of the Devyani and Mechi rivers. There are many archaeological projects discovered in that place.

A pond has been constructed as a hexagon on the bank of the Devyani River.

The Kichak-Vadh covers an area of 10 Bigahas. The Archaeological Department discovered many ancient remains from the place in various stages.

The Department has covered most of the places from which the remains were discovered. But the remaining two places have been made visible for the visitors.

Many archaeological structures as well as materials were found from this site.

During the archaeological excavation, the remains of the 8-room structure were discovered in this area. The place has become a religious as well as a refreshment site for picnics and to celebrate holidays.
