7th NIFF begins on 14th March

Kathmandu: The 7th Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) will begin on 14th March (Chaitra 1, 2080). A total of 88 movies from 40 countries will be screened at the festival.

The movies have been selected from more than 500 movies submitted by filmmakers from 60 countries. The Nepal Culture and Film Centre is the organizer of the film festival.

NIFF is divided into 2 categories i.e. National and International. A total of 14 awards will be provided in both categories. Both categories cover genres like feature films, short films, and documentaries.

The Best Feature Film, in the International category, will win a cash prize of  US $1500. The movie will also be honored with the Gautam Buddha Award.

Likewise, The International Federation of Film Societies (IFFS) will honor the winner of the National and International feature film with the DON Quijote Award.

The Best Documentary will win US $1000 and be honored with the Mount Everest Award. The Best Short Film will win a cash prize of US $500 and a Bagmati Award.

Similarly, the Best Feature Film in the National category will bag 1 lakh rupees and a trophy. Each Best Short Film and Best Documentary will win 50 thousand rupees and a trophy.

A trophy will be awarded to the Best Director among the short films. Whereas, the trophy will be provided to the Best Director, Writer, Cinematographer, Actor, and Actress in the Feature Film Category.

Movies will be screened in QFX cinema halls. The NIFF will conclude on 18  March ( Chaitra 5, 2080).
