Masinya-Reflection of Pain Behind Happy Faces of Oppressed Tamang Community (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: The staging of the drama ‘Masinya’ has begun in Mandala Theatre, Thapagaun.

Masinya is a play reflecting the Tamang culture. The drama impressively presents the culture, customs, traditions, and language of the Tamang community being oppressed and exploited by the state and so-called upper-class people.

The drama highlights the behavior of the upper-class people towards the people, who are enjoying their struggle. Masinya glorifies the traditional lifestyle of the Tamang population, who defeats the sadness, enjoys their culture, and spreads happiness.  It presents how the state charges fines against such people for showing love towards their soil, civilization, and culture.

The drama Masinya questions when the Tamang Community needs to face such oppression. It shows laws were working for the demolition of the Tamang community. The story of the drama revolves around these peculiar issues.

Despite enjoying ancient art, culture, and tradition, the Tamang community is always kept as the target of oppressive autocratic regimes. Manisya presents this bitter truth in an impactful way.

Laxmi Rumba, Raju Syangtan, and Rabat have co-written the drama. Mansinya is prepared under the concept and direction of Buddhi Tamang and Sonam Lama.

Bishnu Moktan, Shital Thokar Tamang,  Sulav Pandey, Ramila Moktan, Ajay Lama, Sanu Maya Tamang, Nirmal Saud, Sachin Ratna, Rabin Dong, Rupesh Lama, Sunil Tamang, Prasanta Waiba, Bikash Lama, Bijay Nepal, and Igihopo Kauch Sunuwar are the actors in the drama.

The official staging of the drama is starting from Thursday. Except for Monday, the drama will be staged every day at 5 p.m. Mandala Theatre has also arranged an additional show on Saturday at 2 p.m. The last show of the drama is on 28th Magh (February 11).
