Injured protestor Padam dies while undergoing treatment

Kathmandu: An injured protestor from the ‘Koshi Province’ identitarian protest took his last breath on Friday morning.

Padam Limbu Lajehang, who was part of the protest in Biratnagar on Chaitra 5, died during undergoing treatment.

Padam, a permanent resident of Dharan–15, had entered the restricted area (in front of the Chief Minister’s Office) during the protest. This triggered Armed Police Force to thrash Padam with a stick.

Padam had faced a head injury after being blown by the stick. Padma was rushed to B.P. Koirala Memorial Hospital in Dharan after he started vomiting on Wednesday night.

According to the hospital, Padam died at 2:30 am today. Re-nomination Joint Struggle Committee had also confirmed the death of Padam.

The committee also informed that the arrangements for taking Padma to Kathmandu by helicopter, for further treatment, had started.

The committee, in a press release, had mentioned Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal including Nepal Police, 82 members of parliament Provinec1, political parties, and Chief Minister Hikmat Karki to take responsibility for Padma’s death and demanded the forming of an investigation committee.

The committee had also demanded Padma be declared a Martyr. Padma was the central co-commander of Limbuwan volunteers, affiliated with the Federal Democratic National Forum.

He had been an integral part of the Limbuwan protest since 2025 BS. His dead body has been kept in the mortuary of the hospital.
