NC repeats demand of forming parliamentary inquiry committee

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) has repeated the demand to form a high-probe committee to investigate the savings of the cooperative fraud during the meeting with Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

NC repeated its demand in the meeting of Speaker Ghimire with the top leaders of the major political parties on Tuesday.

NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak said, ‘The meeting discussed the upcoming session of the federal parliament. We have proposed the formation of the parliamentary committee. We repeated our demands, ‘ said NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak.

He said a huge number of people had deposited their savings in the cooperative which has been embezzled. ‘That needs to be investigated. All sides indicate the involvement of the Home Minister. We have not demanded his resignation. But, we proposed the formation of an investigation committee as the question has been raised. We have expressed our belief,’ said Chief Whip Lekhak.

Similarly, he said that the formation of the committee would be good for Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane as well. He said, ‘It is not good that questions are repeatedly being raised against him. It is not good to raise a question upon him.’

Chief Whip Lekhak said that the appearance of NC in the house would depend upon the appearance of the government. ‘The government might not stand with the concept about a leader being above the constitution and law,’ said Chief Whip Lekhak, ‘Let’s not disbelieve the government. I believe that the government would agree upon forming a committee and move forward.’
