Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) has filed a writ against the Gandaki government in the Supreme Court.
NC Province Assembly member Dilliraj Subedi said the party filed a writ against the vote of confidence attained by Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari.
Last Sunday, Gandaki Province Speaker Krishna Dhital announced that Khagaraj Adhikari attained the vote of confidence after 30 province assembly members, out of the 60 members, voted in favor of Adhikari. NC filed the writ against the announcement.
The writ mentions that Adhikari lost the position automatically instead of receiving a vote of confidence as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. Hence, the NC demanded the mandate so that the NC leader could take responsibility for the Chief Minister as being the big political part of the province assembly.
