Nepal ‘A’ lost first match against Ireland ‘A’

Kathmandu: Nepal ‘A’ has lost the first match of the ODI series against Ireland ‘A.’

Ireland ‘A’ defeated Nepal ‘A’ by 21 runs in the T.U. International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Nepal ‘A’ failed to chase the target of 158 runs. Nepal ‘A’ was packed up in 25.3 overs and scored only 136 runs. Shahab Alam scored 37 runs for the team. Dev Khanal scored 26 and Basir Ahamad scored 20 runs for the team. Rijan Dhakal was unbeaten at 14 runs.

4 players failed to score double-digit runs. Arjun Kumal and Binod Bhandari scored 9-9 runs. Kamal Singh Airee scored 6 and Arjun Saud scored 4 runs for the team. Mousam Dhakal, Bhim Sharki, and Aarif Shiekh failed to even add a single run to the team.

Mathew Humphreys took 5 and Liam McCarthy took 4 wickets for Ireland ‘A.’

In the first innings, Ireland ‘A’ won the toss and decided to bat first. Ireland ‘A’ was all out in 38.3 overs and scored only 157 runs. Cade Carmichael contributed 51 runs for the team.

Kamal Singh Airee took the last three wickets of Ireland ‘A.’ He took three consecutive wickets at the first, second, and third balls of the 38 overs. But the defeat overshadowed his hat-trick.

Shahab Alam and Mausam Dhakal took 2 wickets each for Nepal. Rijan Dhakal took 1 wicket for Nepal ‘A.’

Now, Nepal ‘A’ and Ireland ‘A’ will compete against each other on Friday.
