6 parties ruling coalition in Pakistan

Kathmandu: 6 party ruling coalition has been formed to create a new government.

Nawaz Sharif’s party, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), began the procedure to form a coalition government after other parties failed to secure a majority in the election.

Sharif, who became Pakistan’s PM 3 times, formed a 6 party alliance ‘Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)’ formed to run the government.

Bilawal Bhutto led The People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League( Q-PML-Q), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Istehkam-e- Pakistan Party and Balochistan Awami (BAM) Party are part of the coalition.

Those party leaders announced the formation of an alliance through the joint press conference. They claimed that they would overcome the economic crisis together despite competing with each other in the election.

According to BBC, Former PM Sharif nominated his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif as a candidate for new PM and his daughter Maryam as the Chief Minister of Punjab Province.

Similarly, the Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) had filed a case against then-PM Shehbaz Sharif and his 2 sons for illegally acquiring wealth in 2020. However, the Special Court acquitted them.
