US military vessel to construct pier in Gaza; Aid ship waiting for clearance in Cyprus

Kathmandu: A US military vessel is moving towards the Middle East to construct a transitory pier in the coastal area of Gaza. The vessel departed from a military base camp in Virginia on Saturday.

The departure of the sail took place after the statement of US President Joe Biden to build a floating harbor to make the delivery of aid through waterways easier. It took less than 36 hours for the ship to depart after the announcement of President Biden.

US Central Command, wrote on social media Z, that the vessel consisted of equipment for the establishment of the transitory pier. It could take about 60 days to complete the construction of the pier with the help of 1000 troops as per the Pentagon.

According to the UN, the Gaza Strip is likely to face the conditions of famine, which has been predicted as unavoidable. There are even reports of children dying from starvation.

The World Food Program had to halt their aid through roadways due to the increase in the attack upon relief transportation. There were incidents of gun-shooting and looting. Even 5 people died when the parachute of the aid package failed to open on Friday.

Likewise, another aid ship “Open Arms” is waiting for clearance from a port in Cyprus. The vessel consists of 200 tonnes of food. There is the possibility of the ship departing before Monday. The plans are going on to open a new sea route to deliver aid from Cyprus to nearby EU countries to Gaza.
