Dispute arises in Lumbini Province’s ruling coalition

Kathmandu: Dispute has risen in the ruling coalition, due to power-sharing in Lumbini province.

Janata Samajwadi Party(JSP) called backed its ministers from the province government, due to the increased dispute. JSP has been outraged that it didn’t get the 2 Ministries as per the agreement. It has called back its Minister Bhandari Lal Ahir. He has submitted his resignation.

Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara appointed Ahir as Minister on 7 April 2024( Chaitra 25, 2080). Though Ahir was handed responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture, he didn’t join the duties.

Ahir said that he withdrew from the government after his party asked him to resign. JSP said that they withdrew from the government after they didn’t get the 2 Ministries as per the agreement.

Likewise, there are 3 JSP members of parliament (MPs) in Lumbini province. The ruling coalition will not have a majority without JSP, with 83 members in Lumbini Province. However, JSP has not withdrawn its support to the government.
