Minister Shrestha: Education sector will not develop, unless universities freed from political party

Kathmandu: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sumana Shrestha has said that the education sector couldn’t develop unless universities are freed from party politics.

Interacting with the academic group at Singhadurbar on Tuesday, Minister Shrestha said those statements. She said that there is a need to take a resolution, by the academic group, professors, and employees, of not becoming members of political parties as long as they remain in the government service.

Minister Shrestha pledged to implement the suggestion while respecting the expertise and experience of the experts. She said that teachers and employees must not be part of the executive of any political party.

Likewise, Minister Shrestha said that it was necessary to warn the political parties of not providing memberships while having a meeting with the political leaders.  She said the education sector is not only education but also a sector that gives awareness to society.
