1. Chaudhary termed the investigation on him as a ‘political stunt’

Businessperson and Nepali Congress MP Binod Chaudhary has said a ‘political stunt’ has been performed upon him. Chaudhary termed the investigation on him as a ‘political stunt’, after giving his statement in the District Attorney’s Office in the Bansbari Land Embezzlement case on Thursday. He said that there was no need for him to show his character certificates to stunt performers. ‘I don’t need to show my character certificate to stunt performers. I am an honest politician, so, therefore, I came to give a statement,’ said Chaudhary. He further added,’ The purpose of the stunt of presenting the letter, regarding the investigation, colorfully in media has been clear. After this matter was raised, and my brother was investigated, as a member of parliament I spoke in the party meeting, and from the rostrum of the parliament. But it was not heard,’ said Chaudhary. Chaudhary gave his statement to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Thursday and went to Srilanka via Sri Lankan flight at 1:57 p.m.

The Home Ministry has issued 21-point directions to the Chief District Officer (CDO)s of 77 districts. Home Ministry issued 21-point directions regarding decently using social media effectively and controlling cybercrime. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane directed to play an active role in the matters of peace, security, service delivery, good governance, regulation, coordination, and facilitation. Likewise, all chief district officers have been directed to maintain peace and security and to control crime. The direction also includes the preparation of a 3-month short-term action plan for eliminating the illegal activities in the districts with the help of subordinate units.

4.LSP meeting: Opposes BRI; Welcomes 20 crore rupees from India

Nepal Loktantrik Samajbadi, Nepal (LSP) has protested against the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), forwarded by China. LSP Chairperson Mahantha Thakur said that the Central Committee of the Party, on Tuesday and Wednesday, analyzed the BRI as not being in favor of Nepal. LSP started protesting with the increasing process to implement the BRI. However, LSP welcomed the decision to increase the grant amount, for infrastructure development, to 20 crore rupees from 5 crore rupees. ‘This has been welcomed as it would help for the prosperity of the nation. This meeting welcomes the decision of increasing the grant amount of India, from 5 to 20 crore rupees, as a support in the infrastructure development,’ said Thakur.

5. CPN (Maoist Center) Central Member Sharma resigns from all designations

CPN (Maoist Centre) central member Ram Kumar Sharma has left the party. Sharma left the party mentioning the involvement of the party in the corruption scandal. Sharma, who is also a Constituency Assembly member, announced abandoning the party through his social media platform. He informed Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ about his resignation from all his designations through social media. Leader Sharma has been dissatisfied with the leadership of the party for a long time. He said that the main head of the officials of the party was involved in various corruption scandals, the party was full of factions and transformed into the Federation of Factions, and the party itself was getting distracted from the issues raised by itself.

6. Petition against Home Minister Lamichhane at State Order and Good Governance Committee

A petition has been filed against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane at the State Order and Good Governance Committee. Victims of Suryadarshan Saving & Credit Co-operative Limited, Pokhara registered a complaint against Home Minister Lamichhane and the Former Chairperson of the Cooperative Board of Directors Gyan Bahadur Bamjan, Netrapani Bastola, Former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, his son Deepesh Pun, Gorkha Media Pvt. Ltd. Surya Darshan Depositors Struggle Committee submitted the petition to State Order and Good Governance Committee Chairperson Ram Hari Khatiwada. The victims mentioned in the petition about falling trap of misrule. It also mentioned the cooperative run by Gitendra Rai known as GB Rai’s group has turned millions of cooperative depositors into victims. Previously, victims filed a petition against Home Minister Lamichhane at District Police, Kaski on 5 February (Magh 22). Adding the previous petition, the victim submitted an application to Chairperson Khadka on Thursday.
