There needs to be the formation of a high-level parliamentary inquiry committee: CPN (UML)

Kathmandu:  CPN (UML) has demanded the formation of a high-level parliamentary inquiry committee in the gold smuggling scandal.

Member of Parliament Yogesh Bhattarai placed the demand on the ongoing House of Representative meeting.

Bhattarai said, ‘There is an agreement from the nation regarding the formation of the high-level inquiry committee for investigating the gold scandal. An investigation committee needs to be formed.’

He said, ‘The investigation has found the involvement of the high profile leaders in the case. Home Minister had assured to place everyone under the law. We were hopeful. But, we are doubting as no such activity has been seen. That’s why an investigative committee needs to be formed.’

He said that the leaders will be identified as the ‘arrivals from the nations of smugglers.’ He said that the gold smuggling scandal has blurred the international image of Nepal.
