There is no clue of the smuggled gold of 7 thousand 999 kilos to Nepal, during the time of PM Oli: Home Minister

Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister, as well as Home Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has assured that no guilty would escape.

Shrestha assured the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday.

Shrestha said, ‘Guilty won’t escape. Even Maoist leaders won’t escape. All of you have faith. It’s not about this or that, everyone involved is guilty. The investigation has shown that no one can escape.’

Shrestha said that 6 thousand 999 kilos of gold were smuggled to Nepal, during KP Sharma Oli’s government. He said, ‘An inquiry committee was formed during the time of Oli.  7 thousand 999 kilos were smuggled to Nepal between 2070-74 as per the investigation report. But no one knows where the gold is. Previously, there is even no clue of the smuggled 33 kilos of gold.’

He said that there might be more gold than the mentioned quantity. He said, ‘It seems like there was more quantity than the mentioned.’

Shrestha said that it was an attempt to make Nepal a transit point for gold smuggling. He said, ‘An activity of making Nepal a transit point of gold smuggling is going on. It is an act of destroying the security apparatus and economy of the country in front of the neighboring nations.’
