Nepal to sign 6 MoUs with Qatar; Elephant gifting agreement not to take place today

Kathmandu: Nepal will be signing six Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar, 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the signing program of the bilateral agreements will be held in the Hotel Soaltee, in which Qatari King Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is staying. 

MoFA Spokesperson Amrit Bahadur Radii said that 6 MoUs will be signed with Qatar. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that the preparations were going on to sign the agreements relating to the diplomatic training and education, exchanging support in cultural areas, related to youths and sports, protocol related to print and information, related to development.

The news agencies of Qatar “Qatar News Agency” and Nepali News Agency “Rastriya Samachar Samiti” (RSS) will sign an agreement to exchange news. 

According to sources of MoFA, the discussions are going for receiving funds from the Qatar Fund for Development in Nepal. 

The agreement relating to gifting the elephant would not take place today due to the incompletion of the International procedures. 

Both of the nationals need to complete the bilateral procedures to sign the agreement. 

However, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will announce giving an elephant as a gift to Qatar. Nepal will be sending a pair of elephants to Qatar as a gift.
