‘Icon of the Seas’ begins its first journey

Kathmandu: Royal Caribean’s Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship. has begun its first sail.

The cruise began its seven-day journey from the Port of Miami, USA on Saturday. During the journey, the ship will complete its island-hopping tour.

Argentine football Star Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates christened the cruise on Tuesday. It took a total of 900 days to complete the building of the ship in Turku, Finland.

The cruise consists of 20 decks and has the maximum capacity of handling 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members.

Icon of the Seas also has 50 artists including comedians,  musicians, and a 16-piece orchestra on the board to make the first public sail memorable. The cruise gains its final shape after an investment of $2 billion.

The Royal Caribbean Group claims the ship is more eco-friendly, with the use of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). However, the experts predict the chances of the LNG leaking methane gas in the atmosphere.
