CIAA files corruption case against Bikal Paudel

Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against then executive director of the Security Printing Centre Bikal Paudel in Special Court.

CIAA filed a case against Paudel in charge of being accused of taking government appointments in Nepal even after obtaining a US Permanent Resident Permit (PR). This is 2nd-second irregularity against him.

Likewise, there is a provision that foreign resident permit holders cannot hold any public office in Nepal. On the contrary, Paudel became Executive Director of the Centre.

Paudel became 2 times Executive Director of the Centre and 1 time as Executive Director of the National Information Technology Centre. CIAA had filed a corruption case in charge of corruption in the purchase of security printing equipment against Paudel on 16 April 2023 (Baisakh 3, 2080).

CIAA arrested Paudel and Nepal Telecom suspended Managing Director Sunil Paudel on 24 January 2080 (Magh 10, 2080), while the previous case was pending.

During the investigation, CIAA said that another case had also been filed after it found that Paudel obtained a US Permanent Residence Permit.
