1. Bishwa Prakash Sharma: Formation of parliamentary committee to investigate cooperative fraud

The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has maintained its stance of forming a parliamentary committee to investigate the cooperative fraud case. In the parliament meeting on Wednesday, NC General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma objected to the Prime Minister (PM) and Members of Parliament (MP) for making  Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane innocent without confirmation from the investigation. NC claiming the involvement of the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister in cooperative fraud and has been demanding the resignation of Lamichhane since 7 March (Falgun 23).

2. Gandaki Chief Minister Pandey resigns

Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey has resigned. CM Pandey submitted a resignation letter to Province Chief Dilliraj Bhatta on Wednesday. After the CPN(Maoist Centre) withdrew its support on 6 March (Falgun 23), Pandey needed to take a vote of confidence by 4 April (Chaitra 22). However, Chief Minister Pandey resigned, after seeing that he would not get a vote of confidence. Now, the Chief Minister will be elected from the ruling coalition.

3. Karnali Chief Minister Sharma submits resignation

Karnali Province Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma has submitted his resignation to  Chief Province Tilak Pariyar. Chief Minister Sharma announced his resignation, by withdrawing the vote of confidence registered in the Karnali Provincial Assembly on Wednesday. After that, he submitted his resignation to the  Chief Province Pariyar. With the resignation of Karnlai Chief Minister Sharma, it is ready to hand over the government to CPN(UML).

4. Nagarik Unmukti issues whip against Sudurpaschim CM Shahi

Nagarik Unmukti Party has issued a whip not to give a vote of confidence to Sudurpaschim Chief Minister (CM) Kamal Bahadur Shahi. The party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha issued a notice on Wednesday, directing 7 elected Members of Parliament (MP) not to give a vote of confidence. CM Shahi will be taking a vote of confidence on Wednesday. Currently, 5MPs from the Nagarik Unmukti Party are in Shahi- led government.

5. HoR session: DPM and Foreign Affairs Minister briefs parliament of his China visit

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha has informed the Parliament about the achievements of his recent official visit to the People’s Republic of China. Speaking in a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) the lower house of the Federal Parliament on Wednesday. Minister Shrestha said important achievements have been made in expanding the area of cooperation through enhanced coordination and collaboration between the two countries. On the occasion, DPM Shrestha said the visit has contributed to further strengthening the mutual goodwill, respect, and trust between the two countries. The Minister also viewed that the historic and friendly relations between the two countries have reached new heights through this visit.

6. Gandaki Province Chief sets deadline to form new government

After the resignation of Surendra Raj Pandey, Province Chief Dilliraj Bhatta has called upon the political parties to submit claims for the designation of Chief Minister, within 7 days. According to sub-section (2) of Article 168 constitution, the Province Chief has set a deadline to assert a claim for the formation of a majority government till 3:00 p.m., on  9 April( Chaitra 27). Province Chief Bhatta said that if any party fails to submit a majority within the deadline as per clause (3) of the same article. Pandey will be appointed as Chief Minister as the leader of the largest party. Pandey resigned from the post on Wednesday.
