1. Chief Minister Jamkattel attains vote of confidence

Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Shalikram Jamkattel, has received a vote of confidence from the Province Assembly. Among the 110 province assembly members, 56 members cast their vote in favor of the Chief Minister. In a meeting of the province assembly on Monday, 108 members were present and Chief Minister Jamkattel got votes from CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), and CPN (Unified Socialist). A province assembly member of the Hamro Nepali Party also voted for Jamkattel. However, Nepali Congress voted against Jamkattel while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Nepal Workers Peasants Party chose to remain neutral. The RPP has 12 province assembly members excluding the Province Assembly Speaker and the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party has three lawmakers. A member of the Hamro Nepali Party abstained from the meeting. So far, Chief Minister Jamkattel has taken and won the vote of confidence three times.

2. Clash between Ranjita and Ramesh’s supporters in meeting of Nagarik Unmukti Party

The two factions of the Nagarik Unmukti Party have clashed with each other. The supporters of Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha and Patron Resham Chaudhary fought with each other in the meeting at the Party’s Central Office in Anamnagar. One of the leaders said that there was a dispute regarding the subject of joining the current coalition. The leader said Mayor Ramlal Dangaura and leader Resham B.K. physically charged each other. Chairperson Shrestha favors joining the government and Patron Chaudhary does not want to. This dispute has even affected the relationship of the husband and wife.

3. Pratima Gautam: Government is in mental agony of losing Home Minister Lamichhane

The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has responded that the government was in mental agony of losing the Home Minister. Speaking at zero hours at the meeting of the parliament on Monday, NC member Pratima Gautam said,’ Government is in mental agony of losing Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.’ She, reiterating the investigation report, said that the government was ignoring the issue raised by the government, as the reports would find Lamichhane guilty of cooperative fraud. ‘Cooperative victims have started raising their social media and social life. Some fraud has systematically committed fraud in the cooperatives. This has resulted in pain for depositors, who deposit small amounts of their daily wages money in cooperatives,’ said Gautam.

4. Parliamentary Committee directs NAC to submit details of the narrow-body aircraft purchase process within 15 days

Parliament’s International Relation and Tourism Committee has directed Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) to submit a clear answer within 15 days, regarding the details of the purchase process of narrow-body aircraft. The meeting of the committee, held on Monday, directed NAC to submit a clear answer, to make the committee believe that there was no corruption in the purchase process of narrow-body aircraft. Committee Chairperson Raj Kishore Yadav said that a Sub Committee would be formed to investigate the matter of narrow-body aircraft and even directed to submit all the purchase procedures and agreements of the narrow-body aircraft.

5. Education Minister: Process of ending party politics in education will start soon

Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Sumana Shrestha has said that a campaign will be conducted to end party politics in the education sector. In the meeting of the National Assembly, Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee held on Monday. Minister Shrestha said the campaign to end party politics in the education sector will be initiated from Tribhuvan University (TU). ‘The reason why investment in the education sector is not result-oriented is due to parties’ interference,’ said Minister Shrestha. According to her, there has been an open call for applications for members of the Service Commission. In the meeting held to discuss the progress and situation in the education sector, Suresh Adhikari, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education presented the details of the current financial year and the future action plan.

6. Ruling coalition decides to give leadership of Sudurpaschim Province to CPN (Unified Socialist)

The meeting of the central ruling coalition has decided to give the leadership of the Sudurpaschim Province government to the CPN (Unified Socialist).
