National Assembly Election on upcoming January

Kathmandu: Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said that the election commission began the process of election of the National Assembly.

Commissioner Thapaliya talked about the election while addressing the state affairs and good governance committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday. He said that the commission was preparing to conduct the election on the 24th, 25th, or 26th of January (10th, 11th, or 12th of Magh).

According to the Constitution of Nepal, there is a provision for conducting elections one month before the expiration of the tenure of the National Assembly’s members.

Commissioner Thapaliya said that a discussion was going on with the government to fix the date for the election.
