ACC U-16 East Zone Cup: Nepal sets lofty 253-run target for Malaysia

Kathmandu: Nepal and Malaysia are currently facing each other for the title of the ACC U-16 East Zone Cup cricket tournament.

Nepal has set a lofty target of 253 runs for Malaysia. Set to bat first at the Bayumas ground in Malaysia, Nepal scored 252 runs with the loss of eight wickets in 35 overs.

Naren Bhatta scored a century for Nepal. He scored 112 runs unbeaten. Similarly, Niraj Kumar Yadav scored 47 runs while Suryanshu Koirala, Santosh Yadav and Ashok Dhami scored 18,26 and 11 runs respectively.

Dipu Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Abhishek Luhar and Pratik Bhattarai scored 5, 4, 2 and 1 run for Nepal.

Winning both matches of Group ‘A’, Nepal defeated Singapore by 97 runs in the semi-finals to enter the final. Malaysia defeated Hong Kong by 78 runs in the semi-finals of the tournament. Malaysia lost to Nepal by 84 runs in the group stage.
