West Indies defeat Nepal by 101 runs

Kathmandu: Nepal lost to West Indies by 101 runs in the ICC Odi World Cup 2019.

Chasing the target of 340 runs set by Zimbabwe, Nepal were all out for 238 runs in 49.4 overs. Asif Sheikh top scored for Nepal with 63 runs while Gulshan Jha scored 42 and captain Rahit Padel scored 30 runs.

Asif Sheikh and Karan KC added 28 runs each while Kushal Bhurtel returned to the pavilion for 5 runs. Bhim Sarki and Kushal Malla scored two runs each while Sandeep Lamichhane was dismissed for one run.

Set to bat first after losing the toss in Harare, West Indies scored 339 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs. Shai Hop and Nicholas Pooran contributed centuries to the west Indies’ huge victory.

Hope was dismissed for 132 and Pooran for 115. Lalit Rajbanshi took three wickets while Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, Gulshan Jha and Dipendra Singh Airee took one wicket each.

Jason Holder took three wickets for West Indies.
