RSP holding parliamentary meeting in absence of Lamichhane; Citizenship bill as main agenda

Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to hold a parliamentary party meeting on Thursday.

Leader of the Parliamentary Party Rabi Lamichhane is not in Nepal. He, along with his wife Nikita Poudel, went to Mumbai, India on Wednesday.

Lamichhane has given the responsibility of parliamentary to deputy leader Biraj Bhakta Shrestha. The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Shrestha.

A parliamentary leader said that the main agenda of the meeting was the authentication of the citizenship bill by President Ram Chandra Poudel. The polls in the party have been separated between Lamichhane and other party leaders regarding this authentication.

Member of Parliament Sumana Shrestha along with Lamichhane has opposed the authentication of the bill. Another MP Manish Jha has supported the bill. The party has held a parliamentary meeting in order to converge to the same conclusion, regarding the bill, of the party.

The meeting will also focus on the MP Development Fund. The fund, which was dismissed by the then Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, has been reactivated by Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat. The public is against the decision.
