Alternative possibilities for the Raxaul-Birgunj-Simara border would be discussed: Minister Saud

Kathmandu: The government would be discussing the alternative possibilities for the Raxaul-Birgunj-Simara border with the government of India.

Foreign Minister Prasad Saud, while addressing a press conference in Singha Durbar, said that the possible new alternative borders would be discussed with the government of India due to the busy nature of the Raxaul-Birgunj-Simara border.

Saud said that the talk was going on to make the borders including Nepalgunj (Rupaidiha), Bhairahawa (Sunauli), and Biratnagar (Jogbani) function.

He said that the visit would result in a positive outcome. He said that there would be also a discussion related to the construction of the concrete bridge connecting the Sudurpaschim and Uttarakhand during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda”s India visit.

Saud shared the belief in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations after the visit of PM Dahal.

Saud said that the government would focus on attracting Indian investment in electricity production, construction of transmission lines in Nepal to create an environment for the business of electricity, and establishing electricity trade relations with Bangladesh.

He added that there would be an attempt of doing a long-term power deal with India focusing on the probability of the market selling electricity.
