Mother and son die while trying to douse wildfire

Kathmandu: Two people have lost their lives in Tehrathum district during an attempt to douse wildfire.

A mother and her son were burnt to death while they were trying to douse a fire in the forest. The dead were identified as Dil Kumari Bhujel (55) and 16-year-old son Kumar.

They died when they went to douse the forest fire at Panchakanya of Chathar rural municipality-3 of the district, according to the Area Police Office of Basantapur. The police said four people were injured in the incident.

As the fire broke out in the Gadhi Salleri community forest of Panchakanya on Wednesday and started to spread into the village, the deceased mother and son went to douse the fire.

The fire has also destroyed four houses in the village.
