Batting and fifer of Sandeep favors Nepal’s victory over Qatar

Kathmandu: Nepal has defeated Qatar in the ACC Premier Cup at T.U. International Cricket Stadium, Kritipur. Nepal defeated Qatar by 68 runs to enter the semifinal of the tournament as the winner of Group A.

Both the batting and bowling by Sandeep Lamichhane in the game helped Nepal to bag the victory over Qatar.

Despite of the terrible start in the first innings, Nepal succeeded to make 157 runs in 40.3 overs.

Sandeep succeeded to make Nepal’s comeback in the game. It was with the support of Lalit Rajbanshi that Sandeep was able to score 42 runs by scoring 6 boundaries out of 58 balls with just one wicket remaining.

Sandeep and Lalit showed a great partnership to present a decent target for Qatar. Likewise, captain Rohit Kumar Poudel contributed 27 and Aasif Seikh 19 runs for Nepal.

Contrastly, Qatar was unable to chase the target of 158 set by Nepal in the second innings of the game. Qatar lost its last wicket in 25.1 overs with only 89 runs on the board. Zaheer Ibrahim and Khurram Shahzad contributed 15 runs each for Qatar.

Nepali bowlers utilized their fine bowling and fielding skills to make Qatar difficult chasing the target. Sandeep Lamichhane took 5, Sompal Kami 3, and Lalit Rajbanshi 2 wickets. Sandeep completed his fifer in 25.1 overs to wrap up the game and bag victory.
