By-polls update: Chitwan-2 records the highest vote cast till 10am

Kathmandu: Chitwan-2 recorded the highest voter turnout till 10:00 am on Sunday, according to an official.

Assistant Election Officer Ishwori Acharya informed that 17 percent vote was cast till 10 am in Chitwan-2. Nepali Congress’s Jit Narayan Shrestha from the ruling alliance, Ram Prasad Neupane from main opposition CPN-UML and Rabi Lamichhane from Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Rabi Lamichhane are running for the seat of the House of Representatives from this constituency.

Similarly, 13.6 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 10 am in Tanahun-1.

In Tanahun, representatives of nine political parties including Bhattarai, Khanal of UML and Wagle of Rastriya Prajatantra Party are in the race.

While 15 percent votes were cast till 10 am in the by-election in Bara-2. According to SP Hobindra Bogati, the chief of District Police Office in Bara, voting is taking place in a peaceful manner.

Janata Samajwadi Party’s chairman Upendra Yadav, CPN-UML’s Purushottam Poudel, Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Ramesh Kharel and Janamat Party’s Shiva Chandra Prasad Kushwaha are among the 10-party leaders who have filed their candidacies for the by-election in Bara-2.
