ACC Premier Cup : Nepal beats Oman along with handful records

Kathmandu: Nepal has defeated Oman in the ACC Premier Cup on Friday. Nepal won the match against Oman by 84 runs, creating handful records, held at TU International Cricket Ground.

Oman was unable to chase the target of 311 runs given by Nepal. Mohammad Nadeem, scored 65 runs for the team. And Sandeep Goud contributed 29 runs.

During the course of chasing, 9 wickets of the Oman team was down to nine wickets in 46.3 Overs. But the 10th batsman Aqib Iliyas was not able to enter the ground due to injury. This also favored Nepal’s victory.

Nepali bowlers Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane took 3, Dipendra Singh Airee took 2 and Lalit Rajbanshi took 1 wicket to pack them off Oman.

Just after taking the first wicket, Sandeep succeeded to create a world record of completing the fastest 100 wickets in only 42 runs. This broke the previous record of Rashid Khan, from Afghanistan, who had completed the milestone of 100 wickets in 44 games.

Previously, Nepal opted to bat first as Oman chose to field by winning the toss. Nepal scored 310 runs losing 8 wickets in the first innings.

This was the massive target given by Nepal in the home ground. Kushal Malla demonstrated an execellent batting to contribute 108 runs scoring 9 boundaries and 10 sixes out of 64 balls. He marked his first ODI century in 59 balls smashing 9 boundaries and 9 sixes.

19 year old Malla became the sixth player to score a century from Nepal. Malla played a vital role to change the game of Nepal.

Likewise, Sompal Kami, remaining not out, contributed 63 runs. He smashed 7 boundaries to complete his half-century out of 39 bowls. This is his personal second ODI half century. Karan KC, remaining on the pitch till the end, contributed 29 runs.

Contrastly, Nepal had a pessimistic start in the beginning of the first innings. Openers duo Asif Seikh and Kushal Bhurtel were not able to contribute even a single run. Then, arrival of Bhim Sharki established hope in the Nepali batting lineup.

It was only in the 28th ball that Bhim opened the scoreboard for Nepal. Captain Rohit Poudel played reliable support for Bhimto to make runs but Fayyaz broke their partnership in 17.1 overs. Poudel moved back to the pavilion by scoring only 23 runs.

Then, Zeeshan Maqsood took the wicket of Bhim, when he was at 33 runs in 20.3 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane departed at 8 and Dipendra Singh Airee at 7 runs.

Whereas, bowlers Ayaan Khan took 2 as well as Bilal Khan, Kaleemullah, Zeeshan Maqsood, Fayyaz Butt, Aqib Ilyas and Jatinder Singh each took 1–1 wickets.
