RSP dismisses Dhaka Kumar from party’s membership and lawmaker position

Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has dismissed Dhaka Kumar Shrestha from party’s membership and lawmaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) over the audio clip scam.

RSP’s central committee meeting held on Wednesday evening decided to relieve Shrestha of general membership of the party and his status as the lawmaker of the HoR.

The decision was taken after Shrestha was found to have involved in activities against Party statute.

The president of RSP Rabi Lamichhane informed about the party’s decision to dismiss Shrestha from party’s membership and from the position of HoR lawmaker. Emerging from the meeting, Lamichhane also told the reporters that a decision was made to recommend Bindabasini Kansakar as HoR member.

RSP initiated the investigation after an audiotape was leaked in which Shrestha is heard demanding 20 million rupees from businessman Durga Prasai. The audio was recorded a few months ago.

But Shrestha has claimed that the audio was edited, saying it was a conspiracy to attack party at the time of by-election.
