Government to unveil common minimum program today

Kathmandu: The coalition government has made all preparations to unveil common minimum program today.

A meeting of the coalition partners held last Tuesday discussed the draft of the Common Minimum Program (CMP) prepared by the task force. Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak, the member of the taskforce, said that since then the work of making adjustments on the program is underway.

In addition to Lekhak, the task force consists of CPN (Maoist Center) leader Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) leader Rajendra Shrestha and CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Dr. Bijay Poudel.

Last Tuesday, the task force had submitted the draft of CMP to the top leadership. Lekhak said that the CMP is a common set of commitments made by ruling coalition parties.

Composed in more than ten pages and covering the issues like good government and foreign policy, the government has outlined nine areas as its priorities in the CMP.

‘The program is a set of commitments on the rational to stay in the government and action to do while staying,’ Lekhak said.
