Trump expected to surrender Tuesday

Kathmandu: Former US President Donald Trump will be expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon for his arraignment.

Trump’s attorney said the former president will voluntarily surrender to Manhattan district Attorney’s office on Tuesday after his indictment in New York City. He is not going to be handcuffed, the attorney added. A judge will then decide whether to release him on bail. His fingerprints and mugshot will also be taken.

According to US media reports, Trump has planned to file legal challenges against criminal charges.

Trump’s indictment on multiple criminal charges, announced Thursday, came after a grand jury probe into hush money paid during the 2016 presidential campaign.

It is the first time in US history that a current or former president has been criminally charged. The indictment was filed under seal and charges are not yet public. Trump reportedly faces more than 30 accounts related to business fraud.
