Six killed in Nashville school mass shooting

Kathmandu: Six people have been killed in a mass shooting at a school in Nashville, Tennessee.

Three children and three staff have lost their lives during a mass shooting at a Covenant school on Monday.

Police had identified the shooter as Audrey Hala. 28 years old Audrey, who is identified as a former student, had three guns. Audrey died on the spot after being shot by the police.

Evelyn Diekhaus, William Kinney, and Hallie Scruggs were the Children, aged 9 years and even younger, who lost their lives. The shooter killed 61 years old Cynthia Peak and Mike Hill as well as 60 years Katherine Koonce.

The Covenant School teaches 200 students between the ages of 3-12 years old. As per the school website, Cynthia was a substitute teacher. Mike was a janitor and Katherine was the Head of the School.

According to the police, the suspect reached the school driving a Honda fit. Audrey entered the school by shooting the locked door.

Audrey fired shots on the ground floor before moving to the second floor. Audrey even shot the windscreen of the police car from the second floor.

John Drake, Nashville Police Chief, said that a manifesto was found in the dead body of the suspect. It was a map that showed the overall planning of the incident including the entry, surveillance camera information, and exit.

The incident has traumatized several children. American President Joe Biden has called the incident as the worst nightmare of a family.

According to Gun Violence Archive, the organization that tracks gun-related violence data, the incident as the 129^th mass shooting that occurred in 2023.

Education Week has reported that there had been 12 school shootings till last week in the US that resulted in death and injury.
