Airplane tickets' price to hike up by 6 percent

Kathmandu: The government has decided to impose Value Added Tax (VAT) on airplane tickets starting Monday. Nepal Airlines Operators Association said that the VAT imposed by the government during the budget announcement would be implemented in the upcoming day.

Sudarshan Bartaula, the Spokesperson of Yeti Airlines, said that the price of the air tickets would also increase with the VAT imposition. This would also result in an increase in the fare of air tickets by 6 percent.

The government made it obligatorily include air travel services under VAT for the upcoming fiscal year 2023-2024.
