Kathmandu: The Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki has warned of choosing the mid-term election as an alternative if he didn’t get a vote of confidence.
CM Karki said that if he didn’t receive a vote of confidence, then the mid-term election would be the alternative.
He questioned, ‘Are we ready to go for the mid-term election? Is the state assembly ready? Is the Federalism of Nepal ready?’ The meeting of the Koshi Provincial State Assembly is going on.
Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has decided to stay neutral. JSP having only one MP in the assembly decided not to cast a vote neither in favor nor against Karki.
57 votes were required for the majority. 46 MPs of CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) are in favor of Hikmat Kumar Karki.
Except for the Speaker, the opposition has 46 seats. CPN(UML) has 40, Nepali Congress has 29, CPN (Maoist) including Speaker has 13, Rastriya Prajatantra Party has 6, CPN (Unified Socialists) has 4, and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has one MP in Koshi Province.
