Corruption case filed against former member-secretary of PADF

Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against former member-secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT).

CIAA has filed a corruption case against Pradeep Dhakal, former member secretary of PADT, on charges of illegally amassing wealth. CIAA spokesperson Bhola Dahal said a corruption case was filed against Dhakal at the Special Court on Monday.

Investigation into Dhakal’s wealth is underway, CIAA said, alleging him for corruption of Rs 14.41 million rupees.

According to the CIAA, the amount of money in Dhakal’s bank account and his family has been found to be unnatural after analyzing wealth details Dhakal submitted from the date of entering service in 2074 Shrwan 32 to 2079 Jestha 30 B.S.

CIAA stated that Dhakal has a total income of 63.9 million through savings, incentive allowance, meeting allowance, tour allowance, additional facilities, money received from the Citizen Investment Trust on retirement, loan amount taken from various banks and financial institutions, amount received from share sales and personal loans taken from various individuals.

According to the CIAA, Dhakal invested a total of Rs 78.4 million was expended, including medical treatment. But no legal source was established for the amount that exceeded the income. It has been also claimed that Dhakal has earned Rs 14.41 million by misusing his public office.
