Tanahun: Siddha Gufa (Siddha Cave) is claimed as the largest cave in Nepal. The cave is situated in Bandipur Rural Municipality-4.
It was discovered by Chandra Thapa Magar, Durga Bahadur Thapa Magar, Nar Bahadur Thapa Magar, and Warrant Quadrus (an Indian Citizen; the then teacher of Notre Dame Higher Secondary School, Bandipur) on 13th Chaitra 2044 B.S.
There are numerous figures inside the cave, which were created with the melting of the limestones. Shapes of Shreepech(King’s Crown), idols of God and Goddesses as well as figures of birds and animals can bee seen in the cave.
There is a huge living room-like space after walking about 200 meters inside the cave. Many organizations have organized meetings, table tennis competitions as well as literature-related programs for the promotion of the cave.
Many Sadhus even visit the cave for worshiping and practicing sadhanas. The cave is popular for the special worship of Lord Shiva. A religious fare is also organized in the cave in the month of Shrawan (July-August).
There are a large number of bats in the cave. After walking 500 meters inside the cave, one reaches to even larger space.
One reaches a dark and wide space after stepping down the stairs. People have been organizing competitions of Rapling in that space.
