Line of Leaders in ‘Central Jail’ to meet Balkrishna Khand; Foreign Minister NP Saud and Chief Ministers pay visit

Kathmandu: A line of Nepali Congress leaders has been seen in the central jail to meet the former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, who was remanded in the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal.

According to the administration of the central jail, ministers and simple leaders were paying a visit to the leaders. Minister Khand was remanded on Asar 1 (June 16). Since then, Ministers and Chief Ministers have been visiting Minister Khand.

Foreign  Minister NP Saud also met Minister Khand at 10 am on Thursday. The administration said that Khand had a meeting of about half an hour. Just after Saud’s visit, other ministers had reached the central jail.

It has been heard that Minister Khand even requested to take him out of jail. Ministers suggested Khand stop panicking as he was not jailed after the final judgment but was only remanded. Leaders even gave assurance to Khand for his release.

Congress Joint-General Secretary Bhisma Raj Angdembe and Mahendra Yadav also met Khand on Thursday. Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary also met Khand on Wednesday.

Kathmandu District Court decided for remanding Khand on 1st Asar (June 16). As per the directions of the court, the accused ones including former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, government secretary (suspended) Tek Narayan Pandey, Indrajit Rai, security advisor to the then Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa have been remanded.
