Furious farmers throw tomatoes on streets during demonstration (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: Farmers have thrown tomatoes on the streets during a protest in Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market. Furious farmers threw tomatoes on the streets after not getting a reasonable price for the tomatoes on Sunday.

One of the demonstrators said that the tomatoes were currently being sold for 8 rupees per kg. But farmers chose to protest after failing to generate even 100 rupees even selling one caret of tomatoes.

A farmer said that they were in the process of throwing 15 tonnes of tomatoes on the streets. They have warned to throw tomatoes in front of Singha Durbar and Maitighar Manadal if the government did not fix a reasonable price for vegetables including tomatoes.
