Demise of Gufi Paintal; Mahabharat’s ‘Sakuni Mama’ portraying actor

Kathmandu: Gufi Paintal, the actor popular for his performance as Sakuni Mama in Mahabharat, has passed away at the age of 79.

According to BBC Hindi, Paintal was fighting heart and kidney disease, died on Monday morning, while undergoing treatment in the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago.

Paintal made his debut in Bollywood through the movie ‘Rafu Chakkar’ in 1975. He worked in various movies and TV serials. B.R Chopra’s ‘Mahabharat’ helped Paintal gain the heights of popularity in 1988 A.D.

Paintal was also the casting director and production designer in the ‘Mahabharat.’ He even hosted a political program for a brief period of time.

He was also part of the movies including Suhag, Desh Pardesh, and Dava.  He was born in Punjab, India in 1944 A.D.
