Supreme Court issues short-term order for not implementing citizenship bill

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term order for not implementing the citizenship bill. The Supreme Court issued an order to the opposition including the President’s Office to show the cause.

A single bench of Justice Manoj Sharma issued the short-term interim order for not implementing the Citizenship bill, authenticated by President Ram Chandra Paudel.

Senior advocates including Surendra Bhandari and Balkrishna Neupane filed a writ in the Supreme Court claiming the authenticating of the bill by President Paudel as unconstitutional.

The court, during the hearing upon the writ, has called both parties for further discussion in order to decide the requirement of the issuance of the interim order. President Paudel authenticated the bill on Wednesday.
