Top Bahadur was the mastermind of fake refugee scam: Teknath Rijal

Kathmandu: Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rijal has said former CPN-UML secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi was the mastermind behind fake refugee scandal.

In his statement to the court, Rijal said that Sanu and Keshav had come to him to make Nepali citizens Bhutanese refugees. He said that they brought him to Kathmandu and took him to Top Bahadur Rayamajhi after asking to meet KP Oli and Prachanda.

‘Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Sanu Bhandari, Keshav Dulal and I reached Prachanda’s residence after the conversation with Rayamajhi was not cleared,’ he said.

According to Rijal, Rayamajhi introduced Sanu and Keshav to Prachanda during the meeting. Rijal told Prachanda that he had come to talk about the management of Bhutanese refugee.

‘Prachanda said that he was very busy that day and advised me to talk to Top Bahadur Rayamajhi instead,’ Rijal stated, ‘Prachanda also said that if the issue could be addressed, it should be resolved.’

In his statement, Rijal said that Rayamajhi, Sanu Bhadari and Keshav Dulal were the mastermind of the scandal. He also said that although he had doubts about Sanu and Keshav, his stalled facilities were restored and decisions regarding Bhutanese refugees begun to be taken.
