Kathmandu: The infamous incident of the Royal Massacre has completed its 22 years.
The heart-wrenching mysterious incident of annihilation of the then King Birendra Shah in the Royal Palace occurred on 1st June 2001 (19th Jestha, 2058 B.S.). But the investigation of the incident has not come to a reliable conclusion even after 22 years.
The then King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya, Crown Prince Dipendra, Prince Nirajan, Princess Shruti, Prince Dhirendra, Princess Jayanti, Princess Shanti, Princess Sharada, Kumar Khadka, and other Royal family were shot dead during a family gathering.
The High-Level Inquiry Committee, formed under the Chief Justice, had submitted a report of the incident. According to the report, Crown Prince Dipendra had shot all the members of the Royal family, before shooting himself.
The then Spokesperson Taranath Ranabhat had made the report public. But, the general public has been raising questions regarding the investigation.
Will Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ start the investigation?
Despite 22 years of the incident, the Royal Massacre is still regarded as a mysterious one. The submitted report is still considered unreliable. PM Dahal said that he would begin and conclude the investigation of the Royal Massacre.
PM Dahal, while addressing the joint meeting between Maoist Advisory Committee and Senior Communist Forum in Paris Danda, shared about the investigation on Jestha 16 (30th May,Tuesday).
Dahal said, ‘I have thought of moving towards the conclusion by conducting the investigation of infamous massacres including Royal Massacre, Gaur Massacre, and others.’
