Kathmandu: Kathmandu District Court has given permission to keep 12 people including former home minister and Nepali Congress leader Balkrishna Khand in custody for additional 4 days.
The court today gave made the addition of keeping the alleged ones in custody for further investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal case.
Khand was present in the hearing. During a brief interaction with the press, he said, ‘I am innocent in the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal case.’
More than 12 people have been arrested in the fake Bhutanese refugee case. Likewise, many people, against whom an arrest warrant has been issued, are still absconding.
Former home secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and former home minister Ram Bahadur Thapa’s advisor Indrajit Rai have also been arrested along with Khand. Former Deputy Prime Minister’s Secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi is absconding. An arrest warrant against Pratik Thapa, son of Ram Bahadur Thapa, has already been issued.
