Approaching Cyclone Mocha results in heavy rain in Bangladesh and Myanmar

Kathmandu: Concerns have arisen in the coastlines of Bangladesh and Myanmar with the approaching Cyclone Mocha.

The approaching cyclone is bringing heavy wind and rain that has predicted a dangerous flood in the peripheral areas of the Bay of Bengal.

This has raised concerns about putting Cox’s Bazar, the world’s largest refugee camp, under the threat of getting affected by the flood. About 1 million people are residing in Cox’s Bazar. Myanmar’s western coast is also in the danger zone.

Forecasters have predicted that villages would sweep away if the storm rises up to four meters. The forecasters had predicted Cyclone Mocha to be the most powerful storm in the past 20 years in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that the maximum sustained wind speed of the wind around cyclone’s center was 195 km/hour along with the squalls and gusts reaching 215 km/hour.

The evacuation of about 5 lakh people has already taken place. Likewise, the authorities have shut down the airport, ordered fishermen for suspending their work, and set up 1500 shelters for the people.
