Kathmandu: The historic Khula Manch, a witness to Nepal’s political transformations, is now covered in lush green grass.

Ten months ago, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City planted Brmud Grass (Cynodon dactylon) in the area. Over the years, Khula Manch had been used and encroached upon for various purposes.

During the construction of the Kathmandu View Tower, it served as a bus park and marketplace. Later, during the construction of the new building for Bir Hospital, it was used to store construction materials and even housed quarters for workers.
