Kathmandu: Anju Shrestha, a well-known name in the Nepali music scene for over a decade, has released a new ghazal, “Yo Maya Ni Kasto”, along with its music video.
The song, with lyrics by US-based poet and lyricist Bhupendra Mahat and music composed by Deep Ghatani, captures the depth and emotion of love, highlighting moments of union and separation. The music is arranged by Sanjeev Baraili, while the video is directed by Rajesh Puma Rai, with cinematography by Utsav Dahal, editing by Bikash Dahal, and production managed by Dipendra Gautam. Anju herself appears in the music video, continuing a trend she has followed for many of her releases.
Anju Shrestha, a permanent resident of Kupandol, Lalitpur, began her musical journey in 2072 B.S. with the Teej song “Rato Saadi” and has since established herself across modern, pop, ghazal, and children’s music. Renowned for her strong vocals and meaningful lyrics, she has also worked with rising creators like Prajwal Adhikari, Bikash Prahar, Shiv Palas, and Sushma Devkota.
With songs like “Rato Saadi”, “Rangiye Teejle”, and “Khojirahechhu”, and recent hits “Timi Sangaai” and “Khola Jasto Jindagi”, Anju continues to evolve as a singer and lyricist. Her upcoming duet, “Pahilo Milan”, performed with singer Pratap Das, is currently in its final stages of release.
