Kushal Bhurtel’s half-century leads Nepal to 6-wicket victory over Netherlands

Kathmandu: With Kushal Bhurtel’s superb half-century, Nepal secured its second victory in the ongoing T20I Tri-series in Scotland. In the match held in Glasgow on Thursday, Nepal defeated the Netherlands by 6 wickets to register an impressive win.

Chasing the Netherlands’ target of 175 runs, Nepal reached 176/4 in 19.4 overs. Nepal’s opener Kushal Bhurtel top-scored with 65 runs off 51 balls, including 6 boundaries. Similarly, Aarif Sheikh scored 39 runs before retiring hurt with Nepal on 168. Bhim Sarki, making his T20I debut, contributed 27 runs.

In the bowling department for the Netherlands, Ben Flecher, Aryan Dutt, Roelof van der Merwe, and Zach Lion-Kachet each took 1 wicket. Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, the Netherlands posted 174/7 in 20 overs, setting a target of 175 for Nepal.

For the Netherlands, opener Michael Levitt played an aggressive innings of 86 runs off 53 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Veteran all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe remained unbeaten on 36 runs off 21 balls.

For Nepal, Karan KC took 2 wickets for 40 runs in his 4 overs, while Dipendra Singh Airee, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Rupesh Singh claimed 1 wicket each.

Nepal will now play their final match of the series against Scotland today. Earlier in the series, Nepal had suffered a defeat to the Netherlands after three Super Overs and had also defeated Scotland.
