RPP boycotts parliament session

Kathmandu: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmakers have boycotted the ongoing discussion on the budget in parliament.

RPP Chief Whip Gyanendra Shah, along with lawmakers, walked out of the parliament room while Nepali Congress lawmaker Prakash Sharan Mahat was expressing his opinion in the parliamentary session on Sunday.

RPP Whip Bina Lama stated that they boycotted the session after the ruling side ran the Parliament by showcasing arrogance of the majority.

‘There is a tradition that the House does not proceed when members stand in protest. But they ran the session by flaunting their majority. That’s why we boycotted,’ she said.

They have been protesting in the House demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the visit visa scandal. Meanwhile, RSP lawmakers have continued chanting slogans while encircling the parliamentary well.
