Grade 12 exams begin today

Kathmandu: This year’s annual examinations of grade 12 have kicked off today.

According to the National Examination Board, 467,389 students from across the country are going to sit for grade 12 annual examinations. Krishna Sharma, examination controller of the Board, said that a total of 1,457 examination centers have been set up across the country.

As per Sharma, the heads of the exam center, invigilators and assistants have been appointed and mobilized as well as necessary materials for the examination have been sent to all districts. ‘Necessary materials for the examination have been sent to the district,’ Sharma said.

This year, more than 56,000 students are appearing for the grade increment examination. They can sit for the grade increment tests only in those subject in which they failed to obtain the specific marks.

Students who have been marked as ‘non-graded’ in three or more subjects, have filled the examination form for six subjects this year. But they have to participate in the ‘non-graded’ subjects only following the amendment of Letter Grading Guidelines (2078) by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Earlier, ‘non-graded’ students in more than two subjects had to take the exam of the entire subject as per the Board’s Letter Grading System. But the last year’s grade increment tests saw the decrease in the participation of the students. To avoid the drop out, the ministry then amended the guidelines.
